What is a durable power of attorney?

A durable power of attorney is a legal document in which you choose a trusted agent to handle your non-trust assets while you’re alive. The durable power of attorney takes place immediately and a limited power of attorney, in the alternative, is for a specific power for a specific asset or person. For example, if someone would like their car to be retitled to someone’s name, and they are in the hospital, then that person can have a limited power of attorney just to retitle the car.
