What is a health care proxy?

A medical power of attorney or a health care proxy is to select an agent who will make medical decisions for you and can receive your medical records. So an example would be, when your daughter or son or grandchild goes off to college at 18 years old, who’s gonna make their medical decisions for them? So that’s the time when you want to have them execute a medical power of attorney.
