Larry King’s Secret Will Focus of Undue Influence Allegations

By Jennifer L. Delgado

Despite his fame and fortune, Larry King attempted to draft his own handwritten will to cut his estranged wife out of his estate. However, she claims it was the product of undue influence. On Jan. 23, 2021, Larry passed away at the age of 87 and was survived by his seventh wife of 22 years, Shawn King. In 2010, Larry filed for divorce, but they reconciled and jointly dismissed their divorce case. Nearly two years ago, he filed against her for a second time but the divorce was not finalized before his death.

On Oct. 17, 2019, within months of filing for divorce, Larry drafted a handwritten will, which provided for his five children and excluded Shawn. Since they had allegedly become close friends again after the filing, she claims that someone improperly influenced Larry to draft the secret will. It is reported that Shawn will be fighting to exclude the secret will as she claims that they had a valid family estate plan drafted in 2015. Shawn further claims that their two sons were unaware of the subsequent will and are going to support her legal battle.
